The Village of Fredonia lies between Hwy. 57 and the Milwaukee River on County Hwy. H. Fredonia is in the northwestern part of Ozaukee County and has a population on 2,160 people.
There are 8 different parks to pick from in Fredonia. That largest of these is Waubedonia County Park. This park offers biking paths, playground equipment, a shelter to host events, and campsites. The park is also right on the Milwaukee River, so there’s no fuss to get out on the water. Marie Kraus Park is located next to the Waubedonia County Park and has a youth soccer field and a full 18-hole disc golf course. On the south end of town there is the Children’s Park which is smaller by nature, but is designed with smaller kids in mind and offers playground equipment suited for younger kids.
If you’re in need of something to do in the fall months with the family, plan a trip to the nearby Appleland Farm Market. Appleland offers a great family friendly experience where the kids can pick apples in the late summer and early fall months and then, when it gets colder, can come pack and get pumpkins for the later fall season. Appleland grows 16 different types of apples throughout the season and should be on your list of things to do in the area.
Kayaking becomes very popular once the nicer weather rolls around, and with Fredonia’s close location to so many lakes and the Milwaukee River, it’s the prime spot to be during the summer months. If you’re looking to get on the water but don’t have a kayak, you can always sign up for a guided kayak tour through Silent Wake. Silent Wake offers a variety of 4 and 6 hour tours that take kayakers around the area on small inland lakes, the Milwaukee River, and even Lake Michigan. They even offers shorter training sessions for those who are looking to get into kayaking or those who just bought a kayak. If you want to learn more or set up a tour, check out Silent Wake’s website here.
Whether you’re looking for fun in the great outdoors or planning a nice day trip with the family, Fredonia has what you’re looking for. Looking to move to the Fredonia area? Check out one of the listings below and see if Fredonia is right for you!
